Interior wear happens slower than exterior wear, which is why it gets ignored until the carpet is stained through or the dash has a permanent haze from years of sun and off gassing plastic. The work starts with everything loose out of the car, then a full vacuum before any wet cleaning, because pulling grit out first keeps it from turning into mud once steam and shampoo go down.

Upholstery and carpet get steamed to lift oils and loosen ground in dirt, then shampooed and extracted so the moisture actually comes back out instead of soaking into the padding underneath. That last part matters in Portland, where a damp cabin left to sit closed up for a few days can start growing mold in the carpet backing before anyone notices a smell.

Vents and door jambs get brushed out by hand, since those are the spots where dust and grime build up in layers that a vacuum nozzle cannot reach. The dash gets cleaned and degreased rather than just wiped with a shiny dressing that looks good for a day and attracts more dust the next.

How a interior detailing job runs

  1. Clear and vacuum

Mats and loose items come out first, then the whole interior is vacuumed including seat tracks and under the seats.

  2. Steam and shampoo

Upholstery and carpet get steamed to lift grime, then shampooed and extracted so moisture does not stay trapped.

  3. Detail the small spaces

Vents, jambs, and cup holders are brushed out by hand where a vacuum cannot reach.

  4. Clean the dash and trim

Surfaces are degreased and wiped down rather than covered over with a heavy dressing.

  5. Glass and final pass

Interior glass is cleaned last so no overspray from earlier steps ends up on it.

Asked about interior detailing

Questions we get asked

Can you get pet hair fully out of the carpet and seats?

Most of it, yes. Embedded pet hair usually needs a combination of a rubber brush and extraction to actually pull it out of the fibers rather than just moving it around.

How long does the interior need to dry before I can drive it?

Extraction is used specifically to pull most of the moisture back out during the job, but seats and carpet still need some time in the air before the cabin is fully dry, especially in cooler weather.

Will this get rid of a smoke or pet odor?

Steam cleaning and proper extraction address most odors because they clean the source rather than masking it, but a very old, deeply set odor in the padding underneath may need more than one pass to fully clear.

How long does a ceramic coating last?

We offer a 5 year and a 9 year ceramic coating package. How long yours actually lasts comes down to how the car is washed and looked after once the coating is on.

What does a ceramic coating do?

It bonds to your clear coat and adds a hard, water repelling layer. It protects against UV, dirt, road grime and water spots, it deepens the gloss, and it makes the car much easier to wash.
